MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) -- The average DTN spot price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended May 7 was $187 per ton on average, down $1 versus one week ago.
DDG prices were mixed but slightly lower on average for the week, while cash corn was lower and soybean meal prices were steady versus one week ago. As for cash corn, the DTN National Average Corn Index was down 5 cents versus one week ago.
Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended May 7 was 1.120%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 58.64% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $6.93 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $6.71.
U.S. Grains and Bioproducts Council, in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) export market prices report, showed these June prices as of May 7: CIF NOLA barge price was steady at $251 metric ton (mt) versus on week ago; FOB vessel Gulf price was up $3 at $269 mt; rail delivered PNW was down 2 at $279; and rail delivered to California was steady at $280 mt.
Ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.017 million barrels per day (bpd) in the week ended May 1, up 8,000 bpd week-on-week and 3,000 bpd, or 0.3%, lower than in the same week last year, the Energy Information Administration reported Wednesday. Four-week average output at 1.071 million bpd was 44,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 959,000 bpd, up 2,000 bpd week-on-week and 9,000 bpd, or 0.9%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.017 million bpd was 48,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
